We wanted to provide an update on the Growing Baldock planning application and let you know about the latest information that has been submitted to North Herts Council
Additional information submitted
The additional information submitted is to help answer questions raised by the Council and other organisations, and to provide more detail on topics such as transport, walking and cycling, green spaces, sport and recreation, equestrian access, the amount and type of development proposed, and financial viability. The new information includes:
- Updated plans for Royston Road, showing proposed changes such as improved walking and cycling routes, crossings, bus priority measures, junction changes and traffic-calming measures.
- An updated Travel Plan, explaining how walking, cycling, public transport and other sustainable travel options would be encouraged and monitored as the development comes forward.
- Further transport information responding to comments from Hertfordshire County Council, North Herts Council and National Highways, including points about local roads, bus services, Bygrave Road, A1(M) Junctions 9 and 10, and how traffic would be monitored and managed.
- A response to comments from Sport England and the Council’s parks and leisure team, covering sports provision, community use of facilities and proposed contributions towards off-site sports improvements.
- A response to the British Horse Society, explaining how horseriders have been considered through the Baldock Greenway, the proposed multi-user railway bridge, Public Rights of Way improvements and future design work.
- A Financial Viability Statement, which looks at the costs of delivering the development, including affordable housing, infrastructure and community contributions.
The new information will be subject to a further period of public consultation before a decision is made on the planning application.
